Peacefully passed away at Freeport Palliative Care on May 8, 2025, at the age of 65 years. Wayne of RR 3 Listowel, was the beloved husband of Donna (Runstedler) Vollmer. Loved father of Amanda (Tony) Fonseca, Rebecca (Graham) McCormick, William (Cassandra) Vollmer and Anthony Vollmer. Lovingly remembered by his siblings Carol and her husband Pat van Heeswyck, John and his wife Karen, Lynn and her husband Steve Newell, Mary and her husband Dean McFadden; mother-in-law Anne (Brenner) Runstedler, and siblings of Donna, Marlene Runstedler, Sandra and her husband Gerry Grubbe, Paul Runstedler and his wife Lisa, brother-in-law Kevin Moser and many nieces and nephews.



Predeceased by his parents Elgin and Beatrice (Kieswetter) Vollmer, father-in-law Walter Runstedler, brothers-in-law Gerard Kocher, and Harley Rashleigh-Berry, and sister-in-law Joanne (Runstedler) Moser.



Wayne grew up on the family dairy farm. He started his working career at Maple Leaf Truck Caps (Brunner). He began his sheet metal career in 1977 at Reitzel Heating. From there he worked at Cronin Emery, Baden Sheetmetal, Rodco & Bostech Heating. He joined Sheet Metal Workers Local 562 in 2000 working for Leslie Danhardt, Tek-Mor, MEI, Sutherland & Schultz, Nelco, Alltrade, Modern Niagara, Dunford Lisco and Rozells. He enjoyed his 46 years as a sheet metal journeyman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Hugh MacKinnon Council 8192, Elmira. Wayne enjoyed genealogical research, playing cards – specifically solo, making puzzles, reading, working with flowers and many outdoor activities.



The family will receive their relatives and friends on Sunday, May 11, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Clement RC Church, 3619 Lobsinger Line, St. Clements, with interment to follow in St. Clement’s Cemetery.





As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Clement RC Church Building Fund or the Grand River Hospital Foundation – Kidney Care, and may be made through the funeral home.
