Notice to all members of Sheet Metal Workers International Association employed in ICI
Roofing in the Province of Ontario
Strike Votes being scheduled
May 7, 2025
Mississauga- During the past two weeks the Negotiating Committee exchanged revised
proposals with representatives of Ontario Industrial Roofing Contractors’ Association (OIRCA)
to continue negotiations for the renewal of the Roofing ICI Collective Agreement.
While your Negotiating Committee is hopeful that we can resolve all outstanding matters we are
still recommending that members employed in ICI Roofing prepare for the necessity of a strike.
OIRCA is taking a hard line against reducing the daily and weekly hours of work. And we are
far apart on an agreement for a fair increase to our wages.
Your local unions have scheduled strike votes across Ontario in the next week. We need every
roofing member working in ICI to vote for strike action in the event we can’t get a fair deal.
Please look to your local union’s websites and social media pages for the specific information on
time and location of strike votes.
