MEMORADUM OF AGREEMENT REACHED
Friday May 16, 2025 – 4:00 PM
Mississauga - Your Negotiating Committee met with the Ontario Sheet Metal Contractors’
Association (OSMCA) late last night and again all day today to avert the strike scheduled to start
on Tuesday May 20, 2025.
After nonstop bargaining the Union and OSMCA have agreed to refer the few remaining matters
in dispute to binding arbitration. Local Unions 47, 235, 269, 397, 473, 504, 537 and 562 all voted
in favour of binding arbitration. Local 30 voted repeatedly against the arbitration proposal.
On this basis of an overwhelming majority vote of our local unions, the Negotiating Committee
will now be preparing its case for the best agreement possible at arbitration. The main issue that
remains in dispute and must be arbitrated is a fair monetary package and whether that
package should include pension and benefits earned at overtime rates.
THERE IS NO STRIKE

EMPLOYER DIRECTS OTHERWISE
